Client Brief: To replace an ageing website with a stunning, fresh design, which is easy to manage and available in both English and French
Château Val is a stunning property, with a hunting lodge, lake, tennis court, and superb swimming pool area. Located in Southern Brittany, the Château is available for holiday rentals. The existing website did not show the property at its best, nor did it succeed in converting a high proportion of visitors. In addition, the site was only available in English, despite being an ideal retreat for the French, and it was not easy to maintain.
Our Solution
We developed the website using the WordPress framework, utilising a premium theme developed by Woothemes and including numerous plugins, such as Testimonials Manager to allow a random display of testimonials throughout the site, a slider control to highlight different parts of the rental property on the home page, and the gravity forms plugin for managing contact information.
We added Redirects (permanent 301s) into the .htaccess file to ensure that no broken links occur, as page names have also changed to improve search engine optimisation.
The new site has a thoroughly modern, appealing design, with good search engine optimisation, and is easy to maintain via the WordPress content management system.
We are also pleased to have delivered a sympathetic translation of the site into French, which will greatly increase the chances of getting bookings through the site. Visitors can switch easily between languages.
Both versions of the website are contained within the same WordPress implementation, which has been achieved via the Network capability of WordPress 3.0. This allows the client to log in to the site backend and then switch between each language.
